Fly tying is one of the aspect which completes the circle of learning and enjoyment of fly fishing. Learning the food sources and their representations by crafting a fly pattern will vastly improve your fishing experience. There is a wonderful feeling of completeness when catching a fish with a fly tied with your own hands. Everyone leaves class with tied flies, ready to fish.
Classes start at various time depending on the level.
During Covid classes are at no cost.
Registration is online. Please register in advance to insure space
There are currently three class levels:
A beginners class for anyone of any age with Jack McNeary instructing. This is a great introduction to tying and a great way to warm up old skills. Covering basic fly patterns that are essential skills and also standard fish catching patterns. This is not intimidating and a terrific way to start tying your own.
The intermediate class offers the chance to learn to apply the knowledge from the beginners class with attention to following recipes and achieving proper proportions. Even more exciting is the added opportunity to work toward a FFI Bronze certification. Alen Baker is the instructor.
The advanced class is for those tiers with experience and competence with the standard methods. Goals here are to advance the tier with helpful technique and aid in complex patterns. Tom Adams is the instructor.
